I grew up in small-town in Northwest Iowa, which meant I was surrounded by cornfields, gravel roads, country music, casseroles, and my large family.
What Inspires Me:
A sense of adventure. I love to travel, understand new cultures, and of course taste new cuisine. My incurable case of wanderlust started after my study abroad experience in Malaysia and now I can’t stop attempting to recreate the delicious flavors from Southeast Asia.
Guiltiest Food Pleasure:
Coming from the Ice Cream Capital of the World (Le Mars, Iowa), my guilty pleasure is Blue Bunny ice cream. My absolute favorite is peanut butter panic. And yes, it is possible to eat an entire tub of ice cream in one sitting.
Areas of Specialization:
As a Development Lead, Katie plans benchtop execution thoroughly, ensuring our time is efficient and results in great tasting, culinary-focused concepts. She has worked in many categories, including dressings, hard candies, cookies, and even with insect ingredients.
When she's not on the bench:
When Katie isn’t cooking, she stays focused on filling her head with bits of wisdom from the rest of our fabulous team! You will also find her lending her hand managing the kitchen, teaching us how to cook amazing Malaysian food and helping us with our marketing endeavors and social media.
