CuliNEX is a company with deep experience combining culinary arts and food science in a discipline called culinology. Our newest team member, Kelly Meyer, Ph.D., also bridges the worlds of culinary arts and cutting-edge chemistry research, making her an ideal fit for our team. With a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of California, Davis, and a B.A. in Cinema from San Francisco State University, Kelly has charted a path that’s as creative as it is scientific. We welcome her to the CuliNEX team.
Recipes, Batch Baking, and Project Leadership
Kelly offers a rare blend of hands-on kitchen know-how, laboratory ingenuity, and agile project management. Her culinary and food development expertise includes recipe creation, scalable batch baking, food safety, and kitchen experimentation.
Kelly has applied her project leadership and training expertise to large-scale government initiatives, including supporting the Defense Health Agency’s electronic health records rollout through consulting work. She has also been a freelance Baker & Caterer, delighting clients with custom pastries, delicious recipes, and high-volume event catering for two decades.
A range of Talents
Her background spans academia and research. She serves as an adjunct professor at Saint Martin's University, teaching chemistry with a focus on food science and mentored students in experimental design and laboratory safety. As an astrochemistry researcher at UC Davis, Kelly’s work took her from designing experiments and troubleshooting complex instrumentation to interpreting data and sharing her discoveries at international conferences. She also spent time as a chemistry instructor at SMASH Academy, creating hands-on curricula that connect chemistry concepts to social impact.
And, rounding out her talents, Kelly has worked as a post-production sound coordinator in the entertainment industry, ensuring seamless cross-functional communication and timely project delivery for major network television shows.
