The Challenge

Increasing the consumption of highbush blueberries is the primary mission of US Highbush Blueberry Council (USHBC). The commission's team reached out to CuliNex to increase awareness of blueberries and educate product developers about the features and benefits of blueberry ingredient forms.

Our Solution

Our Innovation Services team created Blueberry Bootcamp Immersive Culinary Experience for product developers from 10 food manufactures, beginning with a product category education session, ingredient tasting, blueberry consumer products sampling, and a culinary tour through tastemaking city, Seattle. Several pre-arranged stops were made to meet some of the emerging and venerable craftsmen and tastemakers throughout the city, tasting and imagining the potential for blueberry ingredients in sweet and savory applications.

On day two, the team engaged in free-flowing ideation development session working with CuliNex and new colleagues to generate new innovations for their organization. The bootcamp ended with several hours of hands-on benchtop development, side-by-side with CuliNex Culinologists in our well-stocked innovation kitchens to further inspire big ideas with blueberries.

USHBC were given a unique, deep product connection with developers from several companies. Product developers were able to explore and learn the benefits of blueberry ingredients and connect first hand with handlers/shippers and USHBC staff.
