“I chose to come to CuliNex because I love what this company stands for: food can taste and be good for you at the same time. Food is an integral part of life and I love that CuliNex is intentional about creating a positive impact in the food industry”.

Background

Yome’s educational background includes a bachelor’s degree in Culinology® from Southwest Minnesota State University. During her undergrad, she completed a culinary internship working in the kitchen at Minerva’s in Sioux City, IA and a research internship where she developed meat chips with the Agricultural Utilization Research Institute in Marshall, MN. Yome was also the team leader for the Research Chefs Association Student Culinology® Competition where her team developed a fajita meal kit, winning third place overall.

Experience

Upon graduation, Yome landed a research and development internship with General Mills, working with the corporate chefs to test, verify and create recipes in their Culinary Center. Following this internship, she became a product developer in the Snacks division, specializing in better-for-you grain snacks.  One of her main projects was the “Now Better Crunch, Easier to Bite” initiative, where the objective was to improve the texture of the Nature Valley crunchy bars.

Her team brought the idea from concept to commercialization – reformulating 10 products and starting up at multiple plants. She has several years of experience with commercial product development, cross-functional leadership and vendor relationship management. On top of her experience with renovating established products, she has also led innovation development with limited edition crunchy bars and new flavors of organic chewy bars.
